I have concerns
Danielle Leigh-Anne O'bryan
I am very, very sorry to have to say this but I got up to chapter 8 by shear determination. I was praying that at any moment kelly would be allowed to be a boy again. I know that the whole gender mixup was caused by Mr. Mann when he dropped Kelly off at his house but why didn't Mom say anything!
Throughout the day Kelly tried, with no success to convince everyone that he was a boy, let alone thirteen years old. What an age for this to happen. He will be traumatized for life. Granted he is very mature for his age and seems to be handling it, but now just out of survival as he is afraid of what will happen to him if it is discovered that he is a boy as he has been trying to tell them. He knows from experience that people use their own inadaquecies, fears, and in this case embarassment to hurt him and have done so constantly.
What's with Mom! How can she possibly condone this! Her son idolizes her and tries to be there for her all the time and she does this to him, just to get married to a guy who wants a daughter! She is going to be sooo sorry when this comes to a head. I mean eventually she is going to have to tell her husband to be, won't she?
In her current mental state to secure her own future she is destroying anothers. Also what is with that girl Andi. Is she getting some perverse pleasure from feminizing Kelly.
I had to stop at chapter 8 as I couldn't see through my tears anymore. I lived with parents with the very same mind set. They got what they wanted and to hell with the child. I hope that Barbie is willing to lose her very precious wonderfull son. Either to a phyche ward or to Social Services. How will her husband regard her when he finds out. I am afraid to read any further tonight. I will wait till I'm a little stronger tommorrow!
Am I reading this wrong? I know that we all take a little different view away when we read another's stories. I sure wouldn't want to come to the wrong conclussion that would taint your work to me forever.
If I am wrong please forgive me my foilables. I went through a very similar situation when I was young. It did traumatize me. To the point of being afraid to have my OWN children. It is sooooo sad to be betrayed by those you love.
God! I hope they aren't about to convince him to actually be a girl. You know he would do it for his Mother's sake, not his. That would be a tragedy!
I hope for good news!
Yours,
Danielle

At a loss...
Well, first, Wanda, damn good. If I had to think of some short must-read list of TG fiction for some reason this would probably make the list. It's funny, it's got drama, in short -- it rocks.
But Danielle... Um, why do you even read TG fiction if you so firmly reject a little playful toying with the conventions? Seriously, please Danielle -- DON'T READ MY STUFF!

I should let Wanda answer this
But here's a link to the rest of the story over on BC, starting at chapter 10. Read it all before you decide if Kelly is some helpless victim needing rescue or vengeance, because the point you're at in the story right now is called "building dramatic tension."

I've read it, and LOVE it
I have read the whole series of Kelly_Girl, most of it I had to goto Big Closet for, including chapter 1 of the second series.
It's touching, cute, humorous, silly, and just plain good reading! I cannot wait for Wanda to finish writing the next chapter in this series!
Well Done! Bravo!
