Printer-friendly versionTO ALL USERS - An ice storm is heading for my location in upstate NY (near Syracuse). Ice could build up to over half an inch or more on wires and tree branches. On top of that, winds are supposed to reach 20 to 30 MPH here. While I'm hoping for the best, the chances are pretty good that I may have power interruptions in the next 12 to 24 hours. If you can't reach the site it's probably because the power has gone out.

Another Winter Storm

We've had ice pellets (sleet) all day and continuing in the Philly/NJ/NYC sector. Is the storm strictly coastal or are you affected too?
Hopefully, this is the last gasp of Winter.

I've got about 4 inches of snow/slush mixture on the ground. We're expecting more lake effect snow later i the day off the back side of the storm as the winds change direction.

About 4 inches of fluff so far, some drifting, roads are being plowed regularly and, in a little bit, I may be heading out to fill out a job application a few short miles from here. Calling first to see if the position is still open.

Itinerant, Florida is only good for two things: a place to launch spacecraft from, or someplace for people from New York to go when they retire. And around here (N. Texas) it's more like 105 degrees with 25% humidity. Besides doll, that's what they invented air conditioning for!
John, tornados are what we call recreation around here, or Extreme Makeover - Tornado Alley Edition. Hurricanes are further south, killer bees and fire ants are only a problem for the tourists, and chili wars are FUN! Saturday afternoon at a chili cookoff - all you can eat for five or ten dollars, lots of fresh-made ice tea or beer straight out of a wash tub filled with ice; honey, it don't git no better than that! :) Gotta be at least a hundred in the shade to really enjoy that!
