Summer is winding down in CNY

Once again the "traditional" end of summertime is quickly approaching in central New York. The event that marks the locally accepted end of summer in the upstate area is the NY State Fair. It starts on the 21st (this coming Thursday) and goes through Labor Day on Sept 1.

With a bit of luck and a run of good weather I hope to attend the fair this year for at least a couple of the days it is running. I'm trying to decide if I want to take my Nikon D40 DSLR and get some pictures to share. It's a rather expensive camera and it won't fit in a pocket to protect it from it disappearing when I'm not looking out for it though. Maybe I'll go get a smaller pocket sized digital camera and use that instead. Maybe I won't take any camera at all. (A late update - I decided to use an older camera. It's a Kodak Easyshare 4 megapixel model that I first got back in 2004. It's working fine and I won't be upset too much if something happens to it at the Fair. The pics it takes look great when blown up to fill the screen on my 20 inch iMac. The camera has better resolution than the iMac screen does.)

The end of summer almost always means that my ease of getting out is slowly winding down, I'm not a big fan of wintertime and the increasing cold is a problem with my knees. I'll get through it as I always have but it isn't going to be the same as it was for me last year.

I also have to look at the state of some of my web sites and wonder if I'm doing the right thing by expending the resources to keep some of them going with so little use or return on the investment of time I've put into them. Stardust is doing okay just not as well as I'd hoped after being online for over two and a half years. Guess I'll let things go for a while and look at it again when it hits the three year mark in Feb 2009.
