Printer-friendly versionIt finally got cold enough for the furnace to cycle on and off a few times. The fan no longer runs between heat cycles so I think it is finally fixed properly. Now if the furnace guy had only done what I did it could have been repaired properly over a year ago.

I used to do heating system maint.in my younger days for a apartment complex .Those systems are designed for run a bit after to cool down the combustion chamber and take out gasses and are regulatable.Although some time is required to clear the chamber of carbon monoxide it can be set for to much or to little. Please make sure you aren't getting carbon dioxide in the house, we all would prefer to keep you around a long time .I def would recommend buying a co2 detector .Many models exist and many are fairly inexpensive ,but if that chamber isn't cleared ,it could be fatal and co2 is odorless as you should know.
