Dear Liorah,

This story is some of the best sci-fi I've ever read. It reminds me of David Brin's "Up-Lift" stories, but written with more intelligence and erudition. It also seems so true and correct, like this is what WILL happen and that it's message is what will save the world.

In other words, the changes in place as your story opens and the changes that Sa'aan is shepherding, are changes that I would like to see and that go a long way toward correcting many of the world's biosphere threatening problems.

I actually fear that there is a chance that the earth could devolve into another Permian-Triassic type extinction event in the next few centuries. Too much of (too much) humynity is completely absorbed in feeding their family or gathering all possible riches to see the mother of all storm clouds on the horizon. As the song says, "Last time the water, the fire (heat, maybe?) next time."
