Once The Hero

Organizations

ULTIMATE- United Law-enforcement Tribunal for International Meta-human Affairs, Terrestrial and Extraterrestrial.- Agency that oversees mutant and paranormal activity on an international level. More commonly known on the street as the Mutant cops. In recent years it has grown more intolerant to the minority it oversees perceiving them as a threat to humanity.

OAR- The Office of Archives and Records - The cover organization for the United States Black Programs regarding Meta-human activities involving national security issues.

Area 61- Top secret Air Force facility under the authority of OAR researching the Meta-human phenomena and other cutting edge technology. The home of Project Meridian and The Rocketeers. Also the facility where during the Gray Invasion a rebuilt Gray saucer was launched and successfully infiltrated and virused the Aliens’ Mothership.

The Rocketeers- The teen supra-team enhanced by Project Meridian. Members were:

Alan Glenn: Vroom- age 10 Mutation: super speed, enhanced physical prowess, and healing.

Gus Glenn: Capt. Blazzar- Age 14 Mutation: energy control, expulsion, and flight.

Alicia Mercer: The Cat-Age 12 Mutation: greatly enhanced agility, flexibility, night vision and speed.

Douglas Knight: Sharpshooter- Age 13 Mutation: heightened awareness, hand eye coordination, and toughness.

Jeff Fuller: Fortune- Age 10 Mutation: Abnormally lucky and enhanced physical prowess.

Joyce Sturm: Sensation- Age 8 Mutation: greatly enhanced physical prowess, strength and intelligence.

Darkside Penitentiary- ULTIMATE run maximum security prison as the last resort for those too dangerous to keep on Earth, but who hasn’t earned the death penalty or for whatever other reasons for which it’s inadvisable to execute. Use as a labor force for the He3 mines that Earth’s ‘green’ fusion reactors depend on.

Zolotoye-Yablochko ‘Mutant-stan’ - Small country completely surrounded by Kazakhstan known for its high population density of mutants. Once known as Almaty 3, an Soviet era ‘secret city’ devoted to researching and training mutants. After the breakup of the Soviet Union they formed an independent nation in a working partnership with Kazakhstan, taking advantage of a loophole in ULTIMATE’s treaties which forbids Mutant armies.

Haemus-Ancient Greek name for the Balkan Peninsula. Currently stands for the stronghold of the notorious supra-villain Professor Mortis, nestled deep in the mountains. It goes under the thinly disguised fiction of being a nation. Professor Mortis has made no secret that he does have weapons of mass destruction and will use them if Haemus is invaded. Considering its location and the untold of disaster of possible fallout in the heavily populated region, as well as the Professor’s past history, no one has wisely dared test his resolve.

Doctor Ferocious Foundation- Organization devoted to expanding man’s boundaries through science and exploration. Founded by ‘Doc’ Ferocious, a famous inventor, industrialist, and gentleman adventurer, who, along with renown scientist Professor Quester, provided a lasting infrastructure for further space exploration in the ‘dead zone’ between NASA’s cancelled Apollo program and the Space Shuttle still under development. After He3 was discovered to be the perfect fuel for fusion reactors, their subsequent findings of abundant deposits on the moon made their lunar enterprises extremely profitable, making them both instant billionaires.

DAD’S- The Best Burgers and Shakes in the Mojave!  Old fashioned styled hamburger joint that was known as a hangout for the teen supra-team The Rocketeers. It has an area devoted to the memorabilia and memory of the team. In recent years, it‘s struggled financially with competition from the major fast food franchises.

Supra-Response Team One- One of the mutant staffed teams ULTIMATE dispatches when its regular forces are outgunned. In recent years intolerance and political infighting has greatly reduced the circumstances the teams are deployed. Often when they are used it is far too late for them to accomplish much. In true bureaucratic fashion they are often blamed for this lack of success due the incompetence of their superiors.

Members are:

Number One- Sapphira Heron: Greek genius inventor and operator of the power armor suit that has labeled her as the Golden Amazon or sometimes the Hoplite.

Number Two- Bernardo ?: Brazilian draftee who has the talent to rapidly learn any skill. He is very much like the character Jarod out of the 'Pretender.'

Number Three-Robert ?: American thief who was given a choice between serving or prison. He can control his own vibratory rate enabling him to become a ghost-like figure able to pass though walls or project it inducing heat.

Number Four- Mariko ?: Japanese thief who was also given the choice of serving or imprisonment. Given her strange metabolism which requires her to ingest gold to survive she feared that would've meant her death. She can control her own density, shrinking and growing as needed.

Number Five- Joachim ?: German draftee who is thought to be a living nuclear reactor. Slate gray in color his skin is metallic and very tough. He is SRT-One's strongman.

ULTIMATE Heavy Assault Brigade UHAB- Designed for high intensity combat for missions involving Supra-villain headquarters and lairs. The Brigade is equipped with the latest gear and vehicles. It’s considered to be airmobile and has over a hundred aircraft in its TO&E. Criticism of the Brigade accuses them of being nothing more than storm trooper goons.

President of Zolotoye-Yablochko- The only head of state on the planet with a secret identity. The stated reason is to protect his family’s privacy and of course for security. Leviathan- Dr. Richard Flagg was the chief scientist for the Navy’s Ultra-Solider/Sailor program Project Leviathan. Due to a tragic mishap he was transformed into the monster known as Leviathan. Fully amphibious, the creature can swim the deepest depths of the sea or walk dry land. Enormously powerful and extremely tough, it has never been successfully captured or beaten. Historical correction

Not all Soviet Era commisars were that bad. In many cases, they were there to rouse the spirits and inspire by example. Unfortunately, this behavior led to many premature deaths during Second World War - like my maternal great-grandfather died.

I'm just saying people can be different.

Oh, and how long till the story update?

Thanks Faraway

I'll try and tweak that one so it's less offensive. Thanks for the comment. As for the update, I'm working on it now. Just slow going I'm afraid. At worse, I'm hoping for next Sunday but we'll have to see.

Thanks again

Hugs!

Grover

Plan? Ain't got no Plan!
"Beyond Thunder Dome"

Grover, just how many comics, sci-fi and NASA refs are there?

The Glen's names cover the first three Americans in space, IE Allan Shepard, Gus Grissom and John Glen.

Then you have an obvious Doc Savage ref plus either Dr Quest of Johnny Quest or Dr Quatermass of British TV fame.

Capt Syn? A ref to the psychotic humuculous sidekick character in the Tom Baker Doctor Who, The Talons of Wang Chian?

LOTS more like this. Even the dark side of the moon prison was in one or more films and books. And that mutant genius with doomsday weapons in the Balkan Penisula, Dr Doom perhaps?

And Big Mac and Ollie? The computer from War Games and ET.

My mind is still spinning.

Get well soonor I'll sick Miki the magic mongoose on you. Do you want to end up a blue haired hottie cat girl?

John in Wauwatosa
