Printer-friendly versionThe weather service has issued freeze and frost warnings for tonight. My area has a freeze warning in effect for overnight. Looks like the growing season in central NY will be officially over for this year.
On the positive side if we get a hard freeze overnight all the bugs will be pretty much gone for this year. No more mosquitoes and the fly population will decrease quite a lot.

We're having low-top supercells with lots of lightning and some rotation on radar. Tornado season, round 2. Happens every fall.

Here in the South we've finally getting over that hot summer. Temps are in the 80's, low hum, and generally gorgeous! Lows are nice being in the mid to upper 60's! We have another month or so before we'll see the freezing mark.

Fall is here
Or as close as SoCal gets to fall. ;>
Day time temps are not much different but it's getting down into the fifties every night now. In the hills, the cottonwoods are beginning to change color. The sea looks less blue and more green-gray. In the winter, it goes back to blue, I've never understood that.
It's rained a bit; the fall sort of rain, not a summer storm but cool rain that falls deliberately, getting everything wet and shiny. The wind has an edge, sharper with a pleasant smell. Birds can be seen coming from the north, warning people and clouds with their honking.
The crows fly more now, enjoying the cool. It must get hot in the summer when you always dress in black. They pick nuts and late fruit from the trees and snails from rain-wet sidewalks. The nuts and snails they drop in the street from heights then they land and examine them One eye then the other. Pick it up and and fly higher this time. Don't be such a stubborn nut! ;>
