Dinosaur BBQ makes Good Morning America appearance - UPDATE

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

Word has come that the Dinosaur has won in the voting. They're going to have a live segment from the place in downtown Syracuse at some point during GMA on Sunday morning.

As part of a story on BBQ places my favorite local place, Dinosaur BBQ, made an appearance this morning and is one of 4 places in their final competition for best BBQ. You can check out the GMA story and vote if you want to here:

I'm having some of their famous pulled pork BBQ tomorrow for lunch and possibly the left-overs for supper. Visiting their booth at the NY State fair is also another one of my summertime traditions.

Best Barbecue

The best I've ever had was Woody's in Anaheim on Lincoln. It's gone now but Jeanne and I called it "Naked BBQ" because the best way to eat it was at home without worrying about what the sauce might do to your clothes. :) It was meaty, tender, juicy, spicy hot, and intensely smoky, Memphis-style.

Second best was probably a Santa Maria-style street kiosk in the San Pedro/Westchester Farmer's Market (Thursdays Westchester, Friday San Pedro). Red oak grilled with sauce on the side.

I've had Chicago-style on State Street in Chicago, too, and that is very, very, very good.

BBQ is a pretty personal thing though and I don't really believe there is a single best. :)

Hugs,
Erin

I saw the Dinosaur BBQ on TV, forgot to comment, Bob

It was a short piece, a few minutes at most but we got to see a bit of the Dinosaur BBQ and it sure looks like a funky, quirky place. I think they mentioned something about the founders being motorcycle enthusiasts or that a lot of their customers are. Hum, reminds me, I owe you some material for a road trip to a certain State Fair and a show.

Weather is nicer the last couple days here in the Milwaukee area, not the heat/ozone advisory stuff of earlier in the week.

Slowly getting the hang of it?

Right. Keep telling yourself that. ;-)

BTW, still raining up there? Could be worse. ;-)

Been rain free a couple days but may get some soon.

Na-a-a-a-h

There was only one Pink Panther movie, everything after the first one were crude ripoffs. Especially the ones with Steve Martin. What an ass!

Could be better, could have tornados!
