CRITICAL WEB BROWSER UPDATES TODAY

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

Two CRITICAL web browser updates are out today for IE7 and Firefox users.

First, Microsoft is issuing a critical update to its Internet Explorer 7 browser to patch it against some "drive-by" software downloads. As I write this the update is not yet available so keep checking using the "Windows Update" or "Microsoft Update" links available in the START button of your Windows based computer. ALL VERSIONS of Microsoft's Windows OS using IE7 should be updated! This update is for users of Windows based computers ONLY.

Second, FIREFOX users have some updates out today. The LAST update for Firefox version 2.x is out and there will be no more updates for 2.x since it is now considered to be at the "end of life" stage. Users of 2.x are urged to update to FF3 as soon as possible.

And Finally, A CRITICAL update for Firefox 3 is also out today and is available now. Just start up your Firefox browser software and use the "Check for Updates" link under the HELP option to get the latest update.

The Firefox updates are available for Windows, Max OS X and Linux users. Windows and OS X users can use the "Check for Updates " link as described above. Linux users of Firefox should probably check whatever update procedure you normally use for your version of Linux.

Hope this notice helps everyone with safe web browsing.
