Final verdict - The broadcast lasted all of 40 minutes or so. A few people tuned in to take a peek but nobody stayed for more than a few minutes. My conclusion is that I really don't have the content available to generate an interesting channel that will hold viewer's attention for more than a couple of minutes until they figure out that it's just old movies and other assorted JUNK. I may run the two horror pics on Halloween night complete with a chat room so viewers can make all kinds of snide comments about the two clunkers I've got to run but after that I'll fold the tent and wander off into the night as far as broadcasting TV over the Internet is concerned.

Update - I've got things working well enough to try a test "broadcast" on Wednesday, October 24th. It should start around 9 PM EDT and run 2 to 3 hours depending on if there's anyone watching it. A chat room will be available on the web page along with the actual video and sound. The URL to watch is: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/teevee-99.
I should have some video up about 5 minutes or so before the actual broadcast starts at 9 PM. The plan is to do a Three Stooges short, maybe a cartoon or two then the main feature of the night will be "McLintock!" with John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara. If this works out I'll go ahead with the Halloween show.

I think I've finally figured out something to do with some of the technology toys I've accumulated. Using the ustream.tv site I mentioned in another post I'm going to start a once a week TV broadcast. I've found a source of old video and some newer free-to-air stuff that I can download from the Internet. Using the ustream technology I'll do a program two to three hours long using the PD/free stuff. I'll also do some fancy graphivs using the other software and gadgets I have stashed.
If I can get everything finished I'm planning on a premiere of the "network" on Halloween evening (Oct 31st). The first broadcast will be quite interesting I hope.
More to come including a link to a web site for the new channel when I get things a little further along in the project.

Broadcast Bob?
Ah, the TV bug has bit you? Sounds like fun, go for it. Will your *station* be like Weird Al's in UHF?
I get my *fix* doing occasional on-air telphone work at the local PBS station, not that I actually speak on air, I answer phones on air.
Busy working on multiple chapters of my epic. Oh, Bob, what about Joanie doing the original Roxette -- Roxette Look Sharp -- rock ballad verion of Listen to Your Heart -- which Kellie Clarkson had a big hit with a couple years ago for the 8 PM Sunday show at ..., right at the critical moment when ...? That and maybe, no it's too diabolical. I'll try and email soon.
